The artwork shows the different types of synesthesia and their comparative frequencies. Data are based on 738 self-reported cases from a nonrandom sample due to limited quantities.
Synesthesia derives from Greek. “Syn” stands for together, “esthesia” means perception. Loosely translated it means perceiving together.  According to Wikipedia, synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. In brief, it is a condition where one sense co-activates other senses.
As a result of my curiosity, I wanted to create a diagram about synesthesia which can occur between nearly any two senses or perceptual modes. Further, I created a simple website prototype for spreading the knowledge and raising people's attention to this phenomenon.
