Art Direct:
Social Media &
Story-telling

Brand Studio team has this long-conceived idea of using data from Google Trends to create snackable social media stories that are informative and fun to watch for its online followers. For three months, my copywriter and I (of course, with the help of our data experts) directed four Interactive and data-driving Instagram stories using the topics that spiked a search on a particular day in the past. Two of them, we also created the posts and shared it on Twitter and Facebook.

Our goal is to use Google search data to remind people of great moments in recent history:
to be nostalgic, surprising, or otherwise delightful.
and ask ourselves, How can Google help its audiences learn useful information even when they are relaxing and having fun?

Since the establishment of Google Trends in 2004, not many people know its existence. This project's initial goal is to spark some discussion on the Internet about Google Trends and bring it some popularity. It's a handy tool if you are interested in what people are looking for on the Internet.
As a result, after the post of our "gay marriage election result," the search for Google Trends spiked, and that day became it's the most searched day of the search term “what is Google Trends”. I'm not saying we reached our goal...... but yeah, admitted, we did it!

︎︎︎The picture below shows people searching “What is Google Trends” using Google Search. During November 2019, this search term reached its peak in the United States since 2004 till the present. (The screenshot was taken during summer 2020)

Although this is a test launch, our social media audiences had excellent feedback on this snackable content. We are also proud that we can bring back those meaningful moments that were part of our social movements. Feel free to follow us on Google’s Instagram account because Throw Back Trends will be back with more episodes soon.
